Who wants to get pissed? Proper job!

Exeter USS have invited us to Devon for the weekend of the 18th June. We are staying in a stone barn, in the legendary Buckfastleigh, famous for its pissed monks, and visiting the caverns of Afton red rift, the cider barn, Pridhamsleigh and the beach.

Exeter are sorting food, and they DO NOT do food on Fridays, so bring your own. accommodation is £5.00 a night, though the final price will depend on your fuel bill, determined by where you are. If you want to come get in touch (please please please get in touch. I need to pass this on, plus it makes me happy). if you’re out of Aber you A) suck and B) need to organise your own transport.

And if you can’t get enough of Devon in one weekend, Henry has invited people to stay at his parents house near Barnstaple for a few days afterwards. All welcome.

AGM

It’s AGM time!

Location: Tan y Bwlch beach
Time: Saturday 22nd, from 7pm
Bring: Alcohol, Food, Sleeping bags.

The club tent will be there so feel free to sleep on the beach. Also, there will be a BBQ so bring any food you want cooking. If you don’t know where it will be, zoom and scroll round the map below to find your way to the green arrow – there is a free car park at the northern end of the beach if needed.

Mass SRT Sessions

All day today (Wednesday) from 10 AM, and on Thursday afternoon, I will be down on the seafront for those who want to practice their srt. You will need to show me that you can do a rebelay above ground before we go off to do it underground this weekend.

A quick summary of who needs what:

Freshers who need lots of practice: Huw, Becca, Julia, Danni, Tilda, Megan, Henry Patton, Alex
People who’ve SRTed before, but I still want to see again: Tim, Toby, Fran, Xian, Mark, Jono, Luke
People who can SRT but can come for a play around if they want: Oli, Carly, Jason, Alison, Josh, Steve

I’ll also set up an infinate SRT rig for any freshers wanting to practice going up, as well as all the usual stuff.

Have a look at Cardiff’s SRT guide for a quick refresher (glad they turned out to be useful for something in the end).

I also think it’d be good if Huw brings the Indianna Jones collection down and we assemble at Oli’s at the end of Thursdays sesion for our delight and his education.

Party at the Belfry

To celebrate the fact that Oli will be 22 and I will be turning 20-something this month, you are all cordially invited to our birthday bash at the Belfry on the 23rd of January. The fancy dress theme is ‘ball gowns’ (men too), so you’ll have to scrub up nice for this one.

No caving is being planned, though you’re free to do what you want, and you will need to organise your own food (or join us in the Hunters) as this isn’t a club trip proper. There’ll be a few of us going from Aber so don’t imagine lifts down will be a problem. Find the event on facebook for more details.
