Welcome to your shiny new website for Aberystwyth Caving Club…you’ll still find most of the content from the old one, plus some new material. Thanks to help from Jason, and several weeks fiddling around, we’ve finally got things up and running nicely.

Hopefully photos will become an important part of the site, so if you’ve taken any that you’d like to appear on here then upload them to our Group Pool on flickr. Any questions then let me know. I’ve started putting a few up already to give you an idea.

Anyway, have a look around and leave your comments below. I would like to hear particularly if you think there’s anything that can be improved. If you register (top right sidebar) then you should be able to create a username and avatar if you so wish, though it’s not necessary. I suggest the committee and social sec do register though, so that you will be able to publish posts.

  • There is a problem sending out passwords by email, though i’ve sorted a workaround for now where you can create your own passwords when registering.

    It definitely works now

Would it be possible for the weather widget to switch between locations; for example, to have the weather for Wells, Brecon, Castleton, and Settle…?

There is no mention of INSURANCE or associated costs.

Would be useful sending link/ info about this to the whole current (active) club, not just the committee!

It also doesn’t seem to be possible to delete or edit your own comments. Bit of a problem for people who *cough cough* reply on impulse. :)

You can now upload a photo to you avatar icon (at the bottom of your profile page). You should crop the image before uploading it..

  • Good comments…the weather widget can be changed manually easily enough to different locations before each trip, but not on a rotation system (like the header image).
I wanted to talk to the committee to see how they wanted to charge insurance for freshers first i.e. make them pay an extra £2 for the first term or just take it out their membership fee. it can be a bit confusing for a fresher to try and explain bca, but will give it a mention. what other associated costs were you thinking of?
Was going to send an email to the list this week once i’d put up something about derbyshire trip…was only trying to give the committee a preview to check they were happy with it.
Yep, i’ve changed the edit comments thing. If its not working let me know…not sure if it’ll work on your old posts now though :S
Nice one Jason…also good to make your avatars files small in size, ~20 kb is fine.

I expect the website to be edited a little over the coming months as things get tweeked and suggested, so keep the comments coming!

  • You now have the option to receive emails of new posts when they’re put on the website. This can all be managed from your profile.
